Dave was born in Ironwood, Michigan, the third child and only son of Holger Franz West and Helen Heczko West. A 1956 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Dave received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, graduating in June 1961.

Planning Commission to revisit commercial strip near Town Center; Quiktrip applies for new Smyrna location

A new Quiktrip location near the Chattahoochee River just outside Smyrna is among the items Cobb’s Planning Commission will consider Tuesday. The gas station and convenience store would sit at the intersection of Riverview Road and South Cobb Drive, just down the road from I-285. If approved, it would join more than 20 other Quiktrip locations across Cobb.

Church’s Chicken agrees to be sold to Quiznos’ parent

Quick-service chain Church’s Chicken has agreed to be purchased by the parent of Quiznos and Taco Del Mar, the companies announced Monday. High Bluff Capital Partners said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Atlanta-based chain, which had been owned by FFL Partners. The deal is expected to be completed during the third quarter.
