An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for Coleman and nearby counties from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm today. Temperatures of 105-110 degrees are forecast across West Central Texas today. Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. At the same time, there is a Red Flag Warning in effect today for very high to extreme wildfire danger. Gusty southwest wind will combine with temperatures 105 degrees or hotter and humidity as low as 5% this afternoon. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires. Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks.
