Sonora, CA — The CHP has released the name of a Tuolumne woman who tragically died in a motorcycle versus car crash on Highway 108. The deceased is 57-year-old Betty Marie Cardoza. The collision happened on Tuesday morning in the westbound lane of the highway at the Mono Way onramp. The CHP reports that Cardoza, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, tried to pass a semi on the left side while merging onto the highway and collided with an oncoming sedan in the westbound lane, as earlier reported here. She was ejected from the bike, which came to rest about 200 feet down an embankment. Cardoza, suffering major injuries, was flown to a Modesto where she later succumbed to those injuries.

As detailed here today is the first day of the Mother Lode Fair. The Fair’s hours each day are from 3 PM to 11 PM. The theme of the Fair this year is “Sew it, Grow it, Show it” There will be carnival rides, food, crafts and animals. The annual Livestock Auction takes place Saturday afternoon. A free shuttle service (including the trolley) will provide runs to the fair from The Junction Shopping Center Friday through Sunday. Shuttles are highly recommended due to limited parking and additional congestion near the fairgrounds. Everyone who rides the trolley will receive a dollar off admission at the gate. From 1 to 4 pm on Friday Young Guns and Lawless, some of the pro modified trucks that will be featured pulling in the Arena Saturday night at the Fair, will be parked at Calaveras Lumber for display.
SONORA, Calif. — A woman died Tuesday morning after rear-ending another vehicle with her motorcycle on a highway in Sonora. According to California Highway Patrol, a 57-year-old motorcyclist was riding her Harley Davidson westbound on the SR-108 on-ramp around 7:20 a.m. when she tried to pass a big rig.
Update at 6:10 p.m.: The CHP reports this morning’s collision between a sedan and a motorcycle on Highway 108 in Sonora has turned deadly. The victim is a 57-year-old female from Tuolumne. Her name is not being released pending notification of her family. She was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide westbound on the highway’s Mono Way onramp at around 7:30 a.m. Also heading in the same direction on the highway was 70-year-old Carlene Valdez of Jamestown in a 2019 Chevrolet Cruse.

Tuolumne County, CA – The CHP has identified an Oakdale man as the victim of Wednesday’s Highway 120/108 wreck, and they want to talk to any witnesses. The solo vehicle collision happened just after 2 p.m. yesterday n the Keystone area. The deceased is 78-year-old Robert Dean Bagley I. The CHP reported that he was driving a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle eastbound on the highway approaching Rushing Hills Lookout Road when, for unknown reasons, his car drifted onto the dirt and gravel right shoulder. They added that he then overcorrected back onto the highway, hitting a raised dirt and rock embankment on the opposite shoulder. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its roof. First responders had to free him from the wreckage.

The PD reports that the 17-year-old left her family’s residence on Sanguinetti Road in a 2005 burgundy Chevy Impala and may have been traveling to the San Jose area. Sonora, CA – A Sonora man was handcuffed for firing a handgun at a man he argued with over a car. Calls reporting a firearm being discharged at a residence in the Longeway Road area last week had Tuolumne Sheriff’s Deputies rushing to the scene. Upon their arrival, the victim told them that he was trying to leave when a shot rang out. He added that 57-year-old Benjamin Anderson had grabbed a semi-automatic handgun from his truck, walked down the driveway towards him, and fired the gun in his direction.

While out for my evening walk I found this, cute quilted heart, hanging in the berry bushes. At first I thought someone dropped it in the bushes by accident, till I read the tag. It put a smile on my face for sure and it has it’s needed home. This heart was found in Sonora California crossing the bridge into the backside of Rotary Park.
