OAKES, N.D. (Oakes Public School) – Oakes Public School announced that they have hired Jeremy Skoglund as their new varsity boys basketball coach. Coach Skoglund has two children, a daughter, Brooke, who is 23, and son, Trey, who is now a Junior at Oakes High School. Jeremy grew up in Hecla, SD, where he participated in basketball, football, and track. While in high school, he and his teammates appeared in 2 State Basketball Tournaments and 3 State Track Meets. After high school, Jeremy continued pursuing his passion for athletics by running hurdles at SDSU for a year.

OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Oakes Post 36 cruised to another big win over Frederick Thursday night by a final score of 12-0 in five innings. It started with three runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI single from David Schmitz and a two-RBI single from Jaidy Gebhardt. They continued to pour on the runs in the fourth inning as Fletcher Willprecht, Conor Schall, Howie Neustel and Steele Hansen were able to capitalize on errors and wild pitches that were responsible for all four runs. Post 36 added insult to injury by scoring five more runs in the fourth inning to seal the deal.

OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Post 36 Legion baseball team dominated the Edgeley Post 146 Legion baseball team by a final score of 11-5. Despite the high amount of runs, it was the pitching that was the headline of the day for Post 36. Starting pitcher Fletcher Willprecht was dominant, to say the least with 13 strikeouts in six innings pitched in the win. He had an immaculate inning (nine pitches for nine strikes leading to three strikeouts) in the top of the second inning, which was one of the two innings where he struck out three batters. Willprecht also allowed just three earned runs, three walks and six hits and picked up the victory.
OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – One June 7th, a vote for the Oakes Public School Board was voted on, but it resulted in an unofficial tie. However, there was a ballot that was recently discovered that put Rhonda Day on top with 65 votes. Day squeaked by John Bakke by one vote and Ryan Rosendahl came in 3rd place with 59 votes.
