Local emergency management department seeks to fix alert mistake

SPOKANE, Wash. — Already this summer, so many of you have been notified about evacuations and alerts. When it comes to an emergency situation like an evacuation for a fire, it’s important that emergency alerts do what they’re supposed to, but on Tuesday morning, there was confusion across Spokane County as phones lit up with emergency alerts, asking people to shelter-in-place.

SPD Arrests Homicide Suspect

On July 23, 2021, police officers arrested Samual F. Tesch-Villa, age 19, after developing probable cause for 1st Degree Murder in the death of 34 year old Justin P. Combs.

A two-car collision killed 26-year-old Christian J Stanzione and injured two others on SR-290 (Spokane, WA)

On Saturday night, 26-year-old Christian J Stanzione, a resident of Post Falls, died and two others suffered injuries in a two-car accident on State Route 290. According to the reports, Stanzione drove over the center line of SR-290 and crashed into another car driven by two teenagers near Ellen Road. On arrival, emergency crews rushed Stanzione to Sacred Heart Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

State Fire Mobilization Authorized for the Hardesty Valley Fire and Hazard Hill Fire, originally requested as the Valley Road Fire

Spokane County – State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Hardesty Valley Fire and the Hazard Hill Fire located in Spokane County, near Spokane. The Hardesty Valley Fire and the Hazard Hill Fire are burning in timber and brush. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 25, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. at the request of Assistant Fire Chief Howard Johnson, Spokane County Fire District 4. This request was originally made under the name of the Valley Road Fire.
