Former park ranger to share stories from Yellowstone

Author and photographer Bob Richard will share stories and photographs from his time working as a horse ranger in Yellowstone National Park at a program in Cody next week. Richard will host an illustrated talk, “Memoir of a 1950s Yellowstone Horse Ranger,” from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Coe Auditorium. A book signing follows at Points West Market store.

Returning to her small town roots

Setting the stage for her return to Powell, local musician Tia LeeAnn Ibarra will be hitting both the Main Grandstands and the Pepsi Free Stage during the Park County Fair. Originally hailing from Powell, Ibarra has been singing and writing since she was young. However, it wasn’t until her 16th birthday when she received a small pink guitar that she began to combine the two.

Local artists win awards

The 56th Annual Community Art Show at Cody Country Art League is on display in the main gallery until July 31 after winners were recently chosen. In all, 233 pieces of artwork were entered into the show and recently judged by professional artist Reid Christie of Cody. Categories ranged from oil/acrylic, ceramics, woodworking, pastel, photography, mixed media, watercolor, sculpture/bronze and fiber arts. Awards were presented in each category in both professional, amateur and youth.

Disgo brings family fun show to fair

The Disgo Wild West Fun Show will bring a unique mix of magic and entertainment to the Park County Fair with a show that’s fun for the whole family. Kyle Groves — also known as Disgo — is a professional magician with decades of experience. This summer, Groves is going solo with his Western-themed magic show after his dad, Ed Groves, retired this year.
