UPDATE: 8K vaccine doses administered, reporting will change

Ellis County Health Department is happy to report that through the COVID Community Vaccine Initiative, 8000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Through a tremendous outpouring of support from the medical community, volunteers, and community partnerships the vaccine clinic is running successfully. This week will still have ample supply of vaccine available. If you have not registered, please do so at www.ellisco.net. If you are unable to access the website, you may call 785-628-9440 for assistance with registration. The Hays Public Library has also teamed up with ECHD to provide access to computers and assistance with registration. You may call them at 785-625-9014.

Ellis Co. to start vaccinating phases 3 and 4

Gov. Laura Kelly on Wednesday announced the state will move to Phase 3 and 4 of Kansas’ COVID-19 vaccination plan on March 22, 2021. With this move, individuals between ages 16 and 64 with a preexisting medical condition and other non-healthcare workers in critical infrastructure will be eligible for vaccination.

Teachers receive COVID-19 vaccines on March 3

On March 3, all teachers at Hays High had the opportunity to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The Moderna shot is only recommended for those 18 years of age and older. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, possible post-vaccination symptoms are tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, fever, nausea and pain, redness and swelling in the arm.

Hays, Colby Walmarts selected to administer COVID-19 vaccines

Two western Kansas Walmart locations will administer COVID-19 vaccines Friday through the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.
