KRUG: County fair activities are coming soon

During the next few weeks, our Cottonwood District team members are gearing up for the Barton and Ellis County Fairs. Our days are filled with scheduling consultation judging and making sure volunteers are recruited to help things run smoothly. Since last year’s virtual Fair didn’t provide as much interaction with the youngsters, I am really looking forward to our 2021 version. It is always rewarding to help a young 4-H’er who is preparing to visit with the judge about their exhibit.

Patrol: Man dies after crash, fire on Kansas highway

STOCKTON, Kan. (KAKE) - A 23-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning after he rear-ended a pickup truck on a highway in northern Kansas. The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on U.S. 24 about nine miles east of Stockton in Rooks County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a 41-year-old woman was heading east in a Ford pickup and slowed to make a right turn into her driveway. The driver behind her did not slow down and collided with her truck, sending it into a ditch.
