Stand-off ends peacefully

CLARK FORK — A seven-hour standoff ended peacefully, Bonner County Sheriff’s officials said in a Thursday Facebook post. The Wednesday standoff began after BCSO deputies arrived at a residence in the 800 block of Spring Lane in Clark Fork at about 4 p.m. to arrest a 26-year-old female on an aggravated battery arrest warrant out of Kootenai County as well as a 33-year-old male on a burglary charge. Neither individual was named in the Facebook post.

Elizabeth Ann Fritzell passed away June 18, 2022. She was born June 20, 1948, in New Haven, Connecticut to Carl Oscar Fritzell and Madeleine (Hotchkiss) Fritzell. Beth graduated high school in Westbrook, Conn., and from there the family moved to California, where she attended college. Both of her sons, Shawn and Justin, were born in California, and in 1981 they moved to Idaho, where Beth was a closer at Kootenai Title for many years. She was office manager for her son’s company, Steel Structures America, Inc., until she retired. Beth loved tending to her roses and watching the birds flock to the feeders. Beth was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Chorus of Sweet Adelines, International for many years, singing bass. She especially loved singing Christmas carols at The Resort.

Old-Time Fiddlers to host local jam session

The local, Les Tucker Chapter of the Idaho Old-Time Fiddlers will meet for an acoustic jam session this Saturday, June 25, at 3 p.m. in Meeting Room B at the Sandpoint Branch of the East Bonner County Library. Laclede Water District receives $3.5M DEQ loan

LACLEDE — The Laclede Water District has been awarded a $5.32 million loan by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality for improvements to its water system. IDEQ issued the loan at 1.5% interest in accordance with LWD’s “Water Facilities Plan” from April 2021. The loan is payable over 30 years and has a principal forgiveness of $721,321, according to a Thursday press release from the department.
