Marietta man killed in east Cobb motorcycle crash

A Marietta man was killed after he was involved in a Thursday night motorcycle crash, Cobb County police said. Casey Sullivan, 58, of Marietta, was riding a BMW R1200 RT motorcycle when he collided with a Lincoln MKX at the intersection of Roswell and Providence roads in east Cobb. Sullivan was thrown off the motorcycle, police said. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

2 People along with their dog rescued from Cobb County river

COBB County, Ga. (CBS46) -- Two people along with their dog were rescued after they had fallen out of their boat on a Cobb County river, authorities say. Around 4:05 p.m., the Cobb County Fire Department rescued two teens and their dog out of a river near the 4000 block of Paces Ferry Road. Authorities reported that bystanders were also helping in the rescue.

2 juveniles, dog rescued after falling from boat into Chattahooch

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities say two juveniles and a dog have been rescued from the Chattahoochee River after they fell out of a boat on Friday afternoon. According to a spokesperson for Cobb County Fire Rescue, crews were called out to the river near the 4000 block of Paces Ferry Road around 4 p.m. to reports of as many of three people in the water after falling. They learned at the scene that it was actually two juveniles and a dog.

Cobb PD officer shot on Sunday is home from hospital

A Cobb Police officer whose shooting prompted a manhunt Sunday afternoon is home and recovering, the department says. The officer — whose name has yet to be released — was discharged Sunday night, according to department spokesperson Shenise Barner. The incident is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Cobb Police are declining to release the officer’s name until the GBI does so.

In special meeting revote, Cobb school board adopts $1.5 billion annual budget

MARIETTA — In a revote Thursday morning, the Cobb County Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt the Cobb School District’s $1.5 billion annual budget. The board had already adopted the budget during its 7 p.m. June 10th meeting, but because the second required public budget hearing was neither broadcast nor made available for public access in person that day — a violation of Georgia open meeting laws — that adoption was nullified, and a special meeting was called.

Motorcyclist killed in East Cobb crash identified

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County Police say a 58-year-old motorcyclist died after a car allegedly pulled out in front of him on Thursday afternoon. The department released new details on Friday confirming that 58-year-old Casey Sullivan of Marietta was heading west on Roswell Road riding a black 2014 BMW R1200 RT when a Lincoln MKX SUV coming from the opposite direction attempted a left turn onto Providence Road in front of him.
