LINDEN, Ala. — A vacant lot in downtown Linden is on deck for some major development thanks to the High Obesity Program Cooperative Agreement (HOP 1809). The current space shows crumbling walls and overgrown grass. However, through funding provided by HOP 1809, a community coalition hopes to inject life into the once vibrant centerpiece of the city, transforming it into something the whole county can enjoy.

The victims killed in a double murder in Eutaw Wednesday evening were a woman and her 20-year-old daughter, the Thread has learned. Eutaw Police Chief Tommy Johnson said officers were called to a shooting, which they believe was domestic in nature, and found a 49-year-old mother and her daughter had been shot.
