Caney Police: Help Needed to Stop Car Burglaries

The Caney Police Department is warning its citizens about a rash of vehicle burglaries throughout the small Kansas town. If you or someone you know lives in Caney, local law enforcement asks that vehicles be locked, and that valuables and weapons be removed. The CPD asks you to review home security footage and report any suspicious activity.

Caddo celebrating 150 years

CADDO, Okla (KTEN) -- Caddo, Oklahoma, was founded in 1872, and on Saturday, many came to the town to celebrate it's rich history and it's 150th birthday in a ceremony. And on Thursday, the town dug up a time capsule that was buried during their centennial year, 50 years ago, and after the ceremony, residents and visitors were able to see what was all inside that capsule, all those years ago.

Kiowa Casino hosting fireworks show this Sunday

DEVOL, Oklahoma (KAUZ) - Kiowa Casino will host a free fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day this Sunday. The show kicks off at 9 p.m. at the casino, and free parking is available for attendees. Several promotions will also be available at the casino afterward for guests 21 or over.

Pittsburg State University to hold annual surplus sale

Pittsburg State University will hold its annual surplus sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 8, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 9. The sale will be held at the PSU Physical Plant, 300 E. Lindburg St., and will include commercial lighting, custom cabinetry, filing cabinets, chairs, desks, tables, doors, vintage Items, and miscellaneous items.

Fireworks Are Temporarily Permitted in Caney

The City of Caney posted a reminder about its fireworks ordinance to the Caney Police Department Facebook page. While normally not allowed, it is permitted to discharge fireworks within city limits between the dates of June 27 and July 4. It is not permitted within city limits at any other time of the year.

Trenton Hoyt Underwood, a Coalgate resident, passed away June 2, 2022, in Coalgate at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was born September 24, 1965, to Thurman John Underwood and Cleatus Leota (Brown) Guinn at Oklahoma City, OK. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Vester Guinn. Trenton graduated from Coalgate High School, Class of ‘84 and was a meat market manager. He married Derise Paige Epps on September 21, 2019, at Coalgate, OK. Trenton enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and being on the tractor. He loved everything outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Dee Underwood of the home in Coalgate; brothers, Tom Underwood and wife Alice of Fittstown, OK, Tim Underwood and wife Connie of Coalgate and Troy Underwood and wife Ashley of Wapanucka, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dearly loved friends.

James Thomas Crosthwait

James Thomas Crosthwait, 91, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 12, 1931 in Stuart, Oklahoma to James Moses and Rozetta (Akin) Crosthwait. He served in the United States Navy in Fighter Squadron VF #53. He was a seaman assigned to the U.S.S. “Wasp” Aircraft Carrier during the Korean Conflict in 1955. He enjoyed fishing.

Services for Bobby Joe Ingram, 89, of Tupelo were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Tupelo Church of Christ, Bryant Naquin officiated with Wendell and Daniel Ingram assisting. Beau Landry was the song-leader. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Stonewall. The Ft. Sill Honor Guard conducted military honors at the cemetery.
