OCONOMOWOC — Nicole Escobia was at a sleepover at her friend’s home in April when she received the call that would forever change her life. “I got the call early in the morning that my mom had passed away from complications after heart surgery. I started crying and my friends gave me a group hug. I’m glad I wasn’t alone,” said the Okauchee resident.

MADISON, Wis. — An Indiana man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison for recording himself sexually assaulting a minor in Cottage Grove. Western District of Wisconsin court officials said 42-year-old Adrian C. Gardiner was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison followed by 30 years of supervised release for producing child pornography. Gardiner pleaded guilty to the charge March 25.

6-17-21 lake mills woman killed in dodge county traffic crash

A Lake Mills woman was killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Dodge County. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on Highway 33, near North Grove Road, at approximately 12:52 p.m. It was located in the Township of Oak Grove. The Sheriff’s Office says a car was travelling west on HWY 33 when a Ford truck heading east crossed the center line and struck the car. The car driver, a 50-year-old woman from Lake Mills, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 12-year-old passenger in the car was seriously injured and flown by helicopter to the hospital. The 47-year-old driver of the pickup, from Horicon, was also seriously injured and was taken to Aurora Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc by air. His passenger, a 44-year-old person also of Horicon, was taken to Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam with minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

6-18-21 dodge county fatal crash investigation

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal head on collision. A 50 year old Lake Mills woman was killed when her car was struck head on by a pick up truck that veered across the center line of state Highway 33 Wednesday near Horicon. A 12 year old passenger in the car was seriously injured in the crash. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says investigators have an idea why the driver may have crossed the center line but are not ready to release that information yet as the investigation is ongoing. It was the second fatal traffic crash on state Highway 33 in two days. Tuesday afternoon, a 68 year old man and six month old girl died when a van struck their vehicle. Schmidt says the crashes have also taken an emotional toll on the officers and first responders involved.
