PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two Floyd County residents were arrested early Tuesday morning, after they were found inside a garage without permission. Pikeville Police received a report that Evan Potter, 30, of Hueysville, and Melody Terry, 41, of Beaver, had broken into a garage on Harolds Branch and were still inside.

After a brief chase, a Pike County man who had driven away from a traffic stop was apprehended and charged with drug trafficking. Just north of the cut-through, a state trooper observed Scott Hurley, 41, of Pikeville, traveling at 70 mph on U.S. 23. Hurley pulled onto Bypass Road after police attempted to stop him, but he continued to drive.

POUND, Va. (WCYB) — A man has been charged following a shooting in Pound Monday, according to police. Police responded to the 17000 block of Tompkins Road following a 911 call Monday evening. Prior to police arriving, the male victim was taken to Dickenson County Hospital in a personal vehicle. The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg and was later transferred to Johnson City Medical Center for further treatment and was released, authorities said.

Beshear presented checks for infrastructure and tourism projects for the City of Pikeville, Pike County, the Mountain Water District, and the Breaks Interstate Park.

CASTLEWOOD, Va. (WCYB) — A boil water notice was issued for some Castlewood residents on Wednesday. The notice is for Gravel Lick Road and Red Oak Ridge Road customers. Officials said they will inform customers when they no longer need to boil water. Crews have repaired the broken water main and are refilling our water storage tanks, flushing water mains, and collecting water samples for bacteriological analysis.
