Fireworks and Fun This 4th in Warrensburg

There will be fireworks, food, fun, and music this 4th of July in Warrensburg thanks to a local church and the American Legion. The Freedom Spectacular as it's being billed will be held at Grover Park Baptist Church between the hospital and the Warrensburg Community Center at 409 N. Mitchell Street. The event is being sponsored by the Baptist Church and American Legion Post 131.

Holden Woman Injured In JoCo Crash

A Holden woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Johnson County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 1995 Honda Civic, driven by 52-year-old David M. Carrender of Sweet Springs, ran off the left side of the roadway. A westbound 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by 46-year-old Melissa T. Collins of Holden, then overcorrected, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a rock wall.

Jaime Reed, PA-C, has joined the Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake team in Warsaw. Reed recently retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving nearly 25 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine in 2008 and a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha through the Department of Defense.

Windsor to host its first Pride Festival

A turning point that led to the first Windsor Pride Festival, being held Saturday, was the overnight removal of a gay pride flag flown in 2019 at the Town Green. “I was talking to a friend at the Town Green and I said, hey, we should have a pride flag up here,” said Lorene Romero, the festival’s grand marshal, who served as president and CEO of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. “After we put (the flag) up I sent pictures to the mayor, the town manager and the police chief so they’d know who did it.”

Two Benton County women injured, one seriously, in two-vehicle crash

A Benton County woman is seriously injured when she rear-ends another vehicle near her hometown. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Sarah Edwards, 36, of Lincoln, was driving north on Highway 65 around 9:00 this morning, when the vehicle in front of her slowed to turn right. Troopers say Edwards hit that driver, identified as Dorothy Day, 56, of Warsaw, from behind.
