MARSHALL, Ark. (KSLA) - According to the Marshall Police Department, a 17-year-old girl is dead after being found unresponsive inside a vehicle. Officers received a call for service in the 1800 block of Olive Street at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21. The Marshall Police Department responded, along with an MPD detective who was in the area.

It was a sweep at home for the Mountain Home American Legion baseball teams Thursday night as both picked up wins over Clinton. The Lockeroom team got a big night from Mason Walker in a 7-2 win. Walker had four hits, including two home runs and a double, and drove in four runs. Logen Walker was the winning pitcher.

A doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday at Cooper Park. Two of Mountain Home’s American Legion baseball teams are set to face Clinton. MacLeod will begin action at 5:30, and the Lockeroom will follow.

In May the Heber Springs Post office held their annual Fill a Bag food drive. Heber Springs residents were asked to leave non-perishable food items at their mailboxes to be donated to a local food pantry. This year we were able to collect over 1,000 pounds of food to donate to the New Life Church Outreach food pantry. The Heber Springs Post Office would like to thank all of those who were able to donate this year and the mail carriers for picking up all the donated food items.

Our team of judges evaluated each nominee based on effective and creative use of MI Write, as well as advocacy and success. There were several high-scoring teachers, but only one had top marks across the board!

Charles Hugh Green, of Ida, formerly of Benton, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on June 12, 2022. He was born to Charlie and Evaline Green on December 29, 1931 in Bauxite, Arkansas. He was the oldest of four siblings, lil sis Lonnie Gene, brother Dale and infant Julia. Hugh graduated from Bauxite High School in 1950, and immediately started his Military career.
