Georgia no longer ranked No. 1 in ESPN's Top 25 rankings

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes 39-22 Saturday, but ESPN’s Football Power Index wasn’t too impressed. In fact, the FPI dropped Georgia down 2 spots to No. 3. Alabama regained the No. 1 ranking after torching Vanderbilt, while Ohio State jumped to No. 2 after its blowout win over Wisconsin.

Cowboys Player Doesn’t Seem Happy About Amari Cooper’s Success

Back in the spring when the Dallas Cowboys agreed to trade wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round draft pick, fans knew that was a great trade for the Browns. Three weeks into the season, Cooper has been excellent for the Browns, as expected, and one...

Why it makes sense for the Cleveland Browns to call Joe Schobert

Joe Schobert fits perfectly in the Cleveland Browns’ defensive system. The Cleveland Browns are without Anthony Walker for the rest of the year. While Walker wasn’t a force against the run, nor did he create any real help in the pass rush department, what he did well was command the center of the field. His ability to limit passing lanes underneath and gobble up anyone who did catch a ball was invaluable.

What Kent State coach Sean Lewis said about Georgia following Week 4 loss

Sean Lewis has a first-hand perspective on playing Georgia, and the Kent State coach came away impressed. Lewis said he knew Georgia was capable of game-changing plays, such as Brock Bowers’ 75-yard touchdown, but he was happy with how Kent State responded. “Really pleased with the way our kids...

Expert Analysis: Defensive Identity; Maye's Rise Continues; Season Outlook

Jason Staples and Buck Sanders joined host Tommy Ashley on The Day After podcast to discuss and break down North Carolina’s loss to Notre Dame. The Heels had no answer for anything the Irish were able to do on offense and any hopes that Gene Chizik’s defense had improved during the bye week were washed away after another poor performance. Drake Maye and this offense had another day, and Antoine Green’s return was big one, but there is no getting around the overwhelming problems on the defensive side of the ball.

Four Options to Replace Anthony Walker Jr.

The Browns' defense was dealt a blow on Thursday night against the Steelers when Anthony Walker Jr. suffered a season-ending quad injury. Walker has been a leader and communicator on the Browns' defense since signing with the team as a free agent in the 2021 offseason. His presence as a player and a leader will be missed by the team. The front office must now decide how best to replace him on the field and the team has several options on the roster, as well as a few strong options in free agency. I doubt Andrew Berry would give up draft capital in a trade for a linebacker, so I'm limiting the options to free agency or internal replacements.

Should the Steelers Start Rookie QB Kenny Pickett in 2022 if the Other Side of the Ball Remains Lackluster?

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a lead of 14-13 going into the halftime break Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns. The offense managed to do well and showed promise in the first half, as did the defense. The second half however is where things began to take a turn for the worst. Consistently giving up large amounts of yardage on defense, particularly on the ground, is a major part of the problem. These plays would eventually lead to 16 unanswered points for the Browns to help them pull away and maintain the lead for a 29-17 victory. If this trend continues, should Pittsburgh look to an eventual offensive change to help the team out?

NFL Week 3 trolls - Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns roasted their opponents on Twitter

It's Week 3 of the NFL's 2022 regular season and teams are getting awfully sophisticated about their postgame social media trolling. The phrase "hold this L" is one of the more to-the-point and timeless things you can say to another team. It's simple, but in its simplicity lies a deeply effective ability to shut down any protestations from the losing side. Oh, you think the referees were against you? Hold this L. Too many injuries on your team's side of the field? Hold this L. Sun was in your eyes? Hold this L. It just brings everything back to the fact that, despite any rationalizations to the contrary, you lost the game and now must carry this L in the scorebooks, forever.

‘So much room to grow’: Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku taps his potential (Beacon Journal) - When David Njoku was asked if he’d turned in the complete game he’d been seeking his entire career, he kept his hopes and dreams to himself. “I think there’s always room to improve, personally and as a whole,” Njoku said.

OBR Analytics: Route Tree Analysis

The Cleveland Browns’ offense is off to a hot start in 2022. After blowing up the quarterback room in the offseason and acquiring a quarterback facing a suspension, this was far from a given. Entering Sunday of Week 3, the Browns are sporting an offense that ranks 6th overall in Expected Points Added (EPA) per play and this isn’t just due to the Browns’ strong running game. On passing plays alone, the Browns’ offense ranks 10th in EPA/play. I thought this would be a good opportunity to dive into some route running data, which may be able to tell us what is driving this above-average passing attack.
