Cavs assistant Dan Geriot promoted to coach G League's Cleveland Charge

Dan Geriot was promoted to head coach of the G League's Cleveland Charge Wednesday after spending the previous six seasons with the Cavaliers. Geriot, who led the Richmond Spiders to two NCAA Tournament appearances during his college career, was hired as a Cavs assistant in 2019-20. Among his duties was working with the Cavs’ frontcourt players.

Kent State opens the 2021-22 men's basketball season Nov. 12 at Xavier

A season opener at Xavier and a December visit to West Virginia highlight the 2021-22 Kent State men's basketball schedule, which was released on Monday. The Golden Flashes will open the new season on November 12 by visiting the Musketeers. Kent State's lone road trip of December will be to Morgantown to face the Mountaineers on the 12th. KSU head coach Rob Senderoff earned his first victory as a head coach when the Flashes won at West Virginia on Nov. 5, 2011.

Dylan Cohen

Dylan Cohen will become a bar mitzvah Saturday afternoon, Sept. 18, at The Temple-Tifereth Israel. Dylan is the son of Stacy and Craig Cohen of Solon and the brother of Kaylie. He is the grandson of Sharon and Les Snider of Beachwood, and Lynda Cohen of Beachwood and the late Buddy Cohen. Dylan attends Solon Middle School. He enjoys soccer, baseball, basketball and cooking. For his mitzvah project, Dylan volunteered this summer as a counselor-in-training at Fairmount Day Camp in Beachwood.

Cleveland State announces 2021-22 men’s basketball schedule

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland State Vikings have announced their official men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Cleveland State will begin their season with two exhibition contests. First on Saturday, Oct. 30, vs. Case Western, and then on Sunday, Nov. 5, vs. Otterbein. Tip times and all promotions for the 2021-22 season, including the VIKEtober Basketball Showcase scrimmage event at the Wolstein Center, will be announced at a later date.

John R. Bickel, 79, formerly of Grafton, passed away in Florida on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Harbor Chase of Wildwood, following a brief illness. He waited less than four weeks to be reunited with his wife, Christine, who passed away August 17, 2021. He was born in Gassaway, West Virginia on November 8, 1941 to Cecil and Pearl Bickel. JR was an only child.

Kent State women's basketball schedule features Dec. 21 home game against Florida State

Kent State has finalized its 2021-22 women's basketball schedule, which is highlighted by a Dec. 21 home game against traditional ACC power Florida State. The Golden Flashes (11-9 in 2020-21) will host a Power 5 school for the second time in the past three seasons when the Seminoles visits the M.A.C. Center for the final non-conference contest of the season. Two years ago over 4,200 fans were on hand to watch Ohio State hold off the Flashes at the M.A.C. Center.
