SPRINGFIELD - Springfield Lucky Horseshoes pitcher Lucas Otto's death in an automobile wreck early Thursday, was akin to a "death in the family," said Alton River Dragons general manager Dallas Martz.
"It hurts," Martz said. "Really, the only time the teams in our league compete is on the field. Any other time, it's like family. His death is like a death in the family, in a way."
The River Dragons and Lucky Horseshoes are Prairie Land Division rivals in the Prospect League, a summer collegiate league.
