(Le Mars) — Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the victim involved with Thursday’s accident between a semi truck and a Burlington Northern-Sante Fe railroad. The driver is identified as 74-year old Raymond Burch of Larrabee, Iowa. No indication as to the condition of Burch was indicated on the news release. Authorities had classified his status.

On Saturday the cheapest gallon of unleaded regular in the area was at Casey's at 207 E Milwaukee Ave. Regular there was listed at $2.69 per gallon Wednesday, compared to $2.79 at Casey's at 303 E Hwy 7, which GasBuddy clocked as the most expensive station in the area.

2021 Ice Cream Days Parade

(Le Mars) — Saturday proved to be a perfect day for the 2021 Ice Cream Days parade. The hot temperatures of the last few days seem to disappear as thousands of people sat on lawn chairs the entire length of Central Avenue from the 8th Street South Blvd all the way to at least 2nd Street North. The parade lasted a little more than an hour as people enjoyed seeing the variety of entries. It seemed as though nearly every entry tossed candy to the anxious children. This year’s Parade Marshals were Rob and Joyce Scheitler of Christmas Acres fame. The Scheitlers were honored in January as the “Citizens of the Year.”

Storm Lake Man Arrested On Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — A Storm Lake man was arrested following a traffic stop on Thursday. The Storm Lake Police Department says they conducted the stop on Sunrise Park Road for a speeding violation. Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as 30-year-old Tomas Olivo. While making contact, police say they detected marijuana, police further allege that Olivo showed signs of alcohol impairment. A Buena Vista County Sheriff K9 was deployed and alerted authorities to the presence of narcotics. Following a search, police found marijuana inside of the vehicle, police were also advised by the owner of the vehicle that Olivo had taken it without permission. Olivo was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Buena Vista County Jail for further testing.
