Suspicious Fires Being Investigated at a Cloverdale Park

An investigation is underway following several suspicious fires in a park along the Russian River in Cloverdale. There have been four wildfires in Cloverdale River Park since July 24th. Two fires broke out at the same time that day and burned a combined ten-acres of land. Then, on Sunday, there were two more fires that burned less than an acre of land. Fire officials have not determined the causes of any of the four fires. But, they say there was no lightning on either of the days and there are no power lines in the area.

Investigators probe ‘suspicious’ fires at Cloverdale River Park

Fire officials are investigating a series of "suspicious“ fires that have ignited over the past two weeks at a park along the Russian River in Cloverdale. The first of the recent fires at Cloverdale River Park were on July 24. Two blazes were reported at the same time that afternoon, about 2:15 p.m., and they grew to a combined 10 acres before firefighters got them under control, according to Rick Blackmon, a battalion chief for the Cloverdale Fire Protection District.

Skateboarder hit by pickup, killed in Clearlake

A man riding a motorized skateboard in Clearlake died after he was hit by a pickup truck Monday morning and the driver has been arrested, police said. Adam Huskey, 32, of Clearlake died at the site where he was hit on Emory Avenue south of Mullen Avenue, according to the Clearlake Police Department.

Pedestrian Dies in Clearlake After Collision with Truck

A 32-year-old skateboarder is dead after being hit by a pickup truck in Clearlake. On Monday morning, Adam Huskey was riding his motorized skateboard on Emory Avenue south of Mullen Avenue when he was hit by the vehicle. Emergency personnel responded and Huskey was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver, 24-year-old Dillon Alan Mahoney, was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and booked into Lake County jail. It’s the second collision in Clearlake within a week that has resulted in the death of a pedestrian. Last Wednesday morning, 43-year-old James Torrey Jr. was hit by a drunk driver on Highway 53 just north of Dam Road, and died a short time after.

River Fire in Cloverdale briefly inundates Highway 101 traffic

Fire crews have brought a vegetation fire under control that began Sunday afternoon in Cloverdale. Smoke from the blaze, called the River Fire, briefly inundated traffic along Highway 101 at the Citrus Fair Drive off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. But there were no reports of any crashes or other incidents connected to low visibility in the area.

Victims Identified in Napa County Plane Crash

The victims of Sunday morning’s plane crash in rural Napa County have been identified. Both men who died in the crash near Pope Valley were from the Sacramento area. The 61-year-old pilot was from Roseville, while the 22-year-old passenger was from Rocklin. The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the NTSB and FAA.
