Meiners to succeed Bisson on S.D. Investment Council

PIERRE,S.D. (KELO) — The Legislature’s Executive Board decided Monday that Kelly Meiners should be the next member of the South Dakota Investment Council. Meiners is manager of the First Fidelity Bank location in Winner. He will succeed the current chair, Paul Bisson of Sturgis, on July 1. Greg Kulesa of Watertown will move up to chair.

A funeral service was held in Lincoln, NE, December 2021 for Ruby Doll (Jackson Larsen) Garrett, former Ainsworth and Springview resident. Ruby’s burial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th, 2022, at the Ainsworth Cemetery south of town. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair. Dale E. Billings, 85

Dale E. Billings was born on June 26, 1936 near Norden, NE to Jay Loy Billings and Myrtle Mary (Reynolds) Billings. He attended grade school in Keya Paha county and graduated from Keya Paha County High School in Springview, NE. Dale lived on his parents’ place. He did live in Ainsworth, NE for a few years and then moved to Bassett, NE. Dale worked at the sale barn in Bassett for a number of years. He was a member of the Bassett Assembly of God Church and was very active in the Rock County Senior Center. He lived in Bassett until he moved into the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, where he passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the age of 85 years.

The Day I Became A South Dakotan

OK, I guess I didn't become a South Dakotan on Memorial Day 1974. Truth-be-known I suppose I began becoming a South Dakotan that day. I was a fresh-faced Minnesota farm kid back there in what many people call the olden days. With my heart set on becoming a radio star (and actually just became a radio guy), I left Austin, Minnesota's Vocational School at the age of 18 to take my very first professional job.

Winner Wins Several Events In Home Track & Field Meet

WINNER – Adam Bohnet won three sprint events Saturday for the Winner Warriors in their home track and field event, the Bill Pistulka Invitational. Bohnet won the 100 meters in 11.9 seconds and the 200 meters in 24.4 seconds. He teamed with Finnegan Bartels, Shawn Hammerbeck and Michael Olson to win the 4×100 relay in 46.2 seconds.
