Wildfire prompts evacuation order for areas near Anderson

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An evacuation order has been issued for people living in about 45 homes in subdivisions near a community in Interior Alaska after winds pushed the Clear Fire closer to them. The fire is burning near the community of Anderson, about 81 miles southwest of Fairbanks.

Evacuations advised near Anderson as “Clear Fire” grows to more than 9,500 acres

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - At 10:22 p.m. Sunday, the “Clear Fire” was located six and a half miles northwest of the City of Anderson along the Teklanika River, or approximately 80 miles southwest of Fairbanks, and had grown to more than 9,500 acres. The most active edge of the fire was approximately 3 miles north of the Kobe Ag, Quota, and Anderson Subdivisions (not city of Anderson), which were all placed under a “GO” evacuation status early Sunday morning by fire and Denali Borough officials. This means that residents and visitors were advised to leave immediately.

New research shows Tongass National Forest is natural solution to climate change

The Clear Fire, currently burning at 9,555 acres and 7% contained as of Tuesday afternoon, has crept to 8.5 miles west of Anderson. An update provided by fire officials with the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center said winds have shifted the fire to a southeast direction, putting it towards the Kobe Ag, Anderson and Quote Subdivision areas.
