Catastrophic Cambridge Area Fire Takes Toll

Last Friday, April 22, a fire ignited eight miles south of Cambridge and continues to pose a threat of spread as of this printing. The current acreage burned is estimated at 41,488 acres, with 47% containment as of April 26. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but caused catastrophic damage to homes, land and livestock in the area, requiring evacuation of Cambridge, Bartley, Indianola and Wilsonville on April 23. The evacuation orders were later lifted.
