CCF Speedway Frost Buster Results

Spencer, IA (KICD) — There were 126 race cars in attendance at Monday night’s Clay County Fair Speedway Frost-Buster season opener. It was a thousand dollar purse for 5 out of the 6 features – winning the Modified feature was Tom Berry Jr. Brandon Nielsen won the Hobby Stock feature; Chance Hollantz won the Stock Car feature; Jody Rosenboom won the 305 Sprint Feature; Matt Looft won the Sport-Mod feature; and winning $500 in the Sport Compact feature was Nate Coopman.

Local Officials Discuss Options for “North Y”

They have presented four options to the Spencer City Council and Clay County Board of Supervisors, and those two groups met jointly last night to share notes.

Arizona man enters plea in Clay County sex abuse case

SPENCER, Iowa -- An Arizona man charged with sexually abusing a then-6-year-old girl more than nine years ago in Spencer has entered a plea. Michael Homan, 74, of Goodyear, Arizona, entered Alford pleas Monday in Clay County District Court to charges of lascivious acts with a child and indecent contact with a child. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt, but a guilty plea is entered into the record.

Save the Center

Spencer Area Activity Center is any agency owned and operated by its membership which includes all Clay County residents. As with any 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it is governed by a board of directors. On Monday evening, a dedicated volunteer "Save the Center" team met with the current SAAC board and provided a detailed recovery plan to stop the closure of this Clay County resident-owned community center.

Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Clay County Fair Speedway kicks off their season Monday tonight – with the “Clay County Frost Buster” starting at 7pm. Six classes of cars will be racing … including the 305 Sprints; Modifieds; Stock Cars; Sport Mods; Hobby Stocks; and Sport Compacts. The A main feature pay-out in five of the classes is $1,000 – and for the A feature in the Sport Compact class it’s $500.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office Seeking Wanted Person

Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for public assistance in locating a wanted person. Ryan Warden is wanted on a second or subsequent offense of sex offender verification violation which is a felony charge. He is described as a six foot two white male weighing 220 pounds with hazel eyes. A recent police mug shot also shows him to have dark hair with a beard.
