Corps of Engineers continue to repair high water damage

Milford Lake experienced extreme high water in 2019, with the lake level the second highest in the history of the reservoir. Damage repairs have been under way since then. During a Milford Lake partner meeting this week the Operations Project Manager for the Corps of Engineers, Bill Whitworth, noted most recently a pair of popular camping loops have been upgraded to 50-amp service so that will help a great deal with the RV'ing public." Those loops are in Curtis Creek and West Rolling Hills camping areas.

CLAY CENTER, Kan. (WIBW) - In just two years, A Mural Movement of Clay Center has gained support of the community and beautified the town with a variety of murals. Originally, the group wanted to bring quality public art to the area and bring more people to downtown Clay Center.

Kansas couple killed when pickup truck crashes near Milford Lake

WAKEFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says two people were killed when an out-of-control pickup truck hit a bridge and overturned west of Milford Lake. The accident happened at around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday about 7.5 miles southeast of Wakefield in Clay County. The patrol reports a Dodge Ram was heading north on County Line Road near 2nd Road when the driver lost control. The pickup then hit a bridge and rolled before coming to rest in a ditch.

Rural Water District Four needs more water storage capacity

Rural Water District Four northwest of Junction City has water storage capacity of 200,000 gallons. This past three-day holiday weekend the District used more than 800,000 gallons. District Director Cliff White told a Milford Lake Partners meeting there is a problem on big weekends.....for example July 4th and Labor Day. He noted if RWD 4 is pumping 400,000 gallons a day during those peak times they will run out of water. "More storage capacity will be looked at. "
