Two People Found Shot After Truck Crashes into Home in Lumberton

Two people with gunshot wounds were found in a crashed truck yesterday afternoon in Lumberton. Officers with the Lumberton Police Department responded to the area of Front Street around 1:25 p.m. and found that a vehicle had hit the porch of a home near Martin Luther King Drive. There were bullet holes and blood inside of the vehicle. One person was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and an 18 year-old was flown to the hospital. No other information is currently available.

SBI Investigating Inmate Beating

State investigators were called in after a Chadbourn man in the county detention center was severely assaulted by other inmates. Chief Deputy Aaron Herring confirmed that the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was called in at the request of Sheriff Jody Greene and District Attorney Jon David. Robeson County Inmate Back Behind Bars

An inmate who escaped in Robeson County is back behind bars. 37 year old Wayne Holshouser was discovered missing around 5:30 p.m. Friday from the Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation Center in Lumberton. After a five hour search, he surrendered without incident. Holshouser was serving time due to a violation of his post-release supervision on a 2018 conviction of receiving a stolen vehicle and was scheduled to be released on November 11th.
