Cache Valley Cruise-In adds 2nd car giveaway, drops burnout contest

LOGAN — The Cache Valley Cruise-In is known for giving away a custom or classic car, and in recent years was known for a burnout contest. Both are changing this year. The annual Cruise-In brings cars in from across Utah and around the country to a three-day show at the Cache Country fairgrounds. It has been going since the early 1980s, with a giveaway car drawing right before Logan police shut down Main Street for an entrants-only cruise Saturday evening.

Update: North Logan hazmat situation resolved

Emergency responders spent about two hours at a North Logan site Monday afternoon after a FedEx semi truck reported a hazardous material leak. Fire trucks and a hazmat crew responded to the scene at 3000 North and 300 West after learning a highly flammable material aboard the truck was leaking into a gutter and storm drain.

Logan City officials announce upcoming holiday closures – Cache Valley Daily

LOGAN – Officials in Logan have announced modified schedules for Logan City services and facilities during the Independence Day holiday. “Residential garbage, recycling and green waste will not be collected as usual on Monday, July 4,” according to Logan Public Works spokesperson Emily Malik. “The city landfill will also closed to the public on that day.”

Two Dead After USU Plane Crashes In Cache County

(Cache County, UT) — Two people are dead after a plane belonging to Utah State University crashed in Cache County Friday. The Sheriff’s Office says the single-engine plane went down about a mile from a nearby road in Mendon. Both victims were part of USU’s Aviation Technology program, which trains pilots and aircraft technicians. The names of the victims have not been released.

Millville family transports hundreds of pounds of protective gear to Ukraine – Cache Valley Daily

Protective gear is organized before being packed in suitcases at the Dave and Brittany Milligan home in Millville. The gear will be transported to Ukraine. MILLVILLE – Last week several family members and friends gathered at the Dave and Brittany Milligan home in Millville to sort, organize and pack over 24 suitcases full of body armor, tactical vests, helmets, first-aid kits and more bound for Ukraine. Dave’s sister, Jeanne Wardle, served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Donetsk, Ukraine over 20 years ago and has returned to the country several times after her mission. Now the Las Vegas resident is on another mission, to save lives in the war-torn country.

Olsen, Paula Dawn Wilson

Paula Dawn Olsen 54 of Hyrum, Utah passed away on June 23, 2022 at Logan Regional Hospital. She was born February 17 1968 to loving parents, Don C. Wilson and Sherrill A. Wilson. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated from Mountain Crest High School class of 1986. Paula worked many jobs in customer service, production and as an Independent Consultant with Scentsy. Paula married Brian B. Olsen in 2004. They were later divorced, but remained friends. Paula was an excellent cook and loved decorating and celebrating the holidays. She also loved going for drives in the mountains. She is the mother of 2 loving sons who she loved spending time with. She is survived by her son's Kaydon and Landon, Mother Sherrill Wilson, sister's Gayle Duncan(Darrell) Denise Grow (Bruce), numerous nieces and nephews and Brian Olsen She was preceded in death by her father Don C. Wilson, grandparents a niece and nephew. There will be a viewing June 30th at the Hyrum Stake Center 595 South 200 East from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by graveside services at Hyrum Cemetery at Noon. Arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. The Family would like to thank all the medical staff, family, friends and neighbors who helped care for Paula in anyway.
