An Agriculture Community Commemorates the Mule Train to DC

Last month, I had the honor to serve as keynote speaker for The Mule Train’s 54th anniversary. The Mule Train left Marks, Mississippi and traveled to Washington, D.C., on May 13, 1968, as part of Dr. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.’s Poor People’s Campaign to demand economic justice since Marks resided in the poorest U.S. county at the time. However, Dr. King did not witness the Mule Train because he was assassinated the month before the demonstration.

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. (WMC) - An Arkansas man is behind bars in Phillips County Jail after he allegedly kidnapped his girlfriend and threatened to shoot people. Helena-West Helena Police Department says officers responded to a domestic disturbance Monday on Kentucky Street where 21-year-old Kylen Barksdale threatened to kill multiple people and kidnapped his 26-year-old girlfriend before leaving the residence in her vehicle.

Shelby museum gets two dozen rare artifacts from Anniston Army Depot

CAMP SHELBY, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby has just received two dozen rare artifacts from the Anniston Army Depot in Alabama. On Wednesday, a National Guard convoy delivered several cannons, trucks and jeeps to the museum. It was part of a program from the Army Museum Enterprise to distribute thousands of artifacts in its inventory to museums, veterans organizations and other groups around the country.
