Aiken police seek help to ID vehicle and two witnesses to possible drowning at Gem Lakes

The Aiken Department of Public Safety is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a vehicle and two witnesses to the possible drowning incident on Saturday at Gem Lakes. At approximately 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Aiken Public Safety was assisted by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources with retrieving the body of a Black male from the recreational area of Gem Lakes in regarding to a possible drowning. Athens toddler dies after testing positive for drugs

Athens-Clarke County police are investigating the death of a 15-month-old girl who tested positive for drugs. Zamiya Kelly died over the weekend at Children’s Hospital of Augusta. Before she died, hospital officials told investigators the child tested positive for exposure to fentanyl, opiates, and Benzodiazapine, a type of tranquilizing drug.
