Bond set for man accused of pointing gun at Decatur officer

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)- A suspect was taken into custody after Decatur Police said he pointed a gun in the direction of an officer. Decatur Police Chief Shane Brandel said on Thursday night at 7:51 p.m., a Decatur Police Officer was in the area of Jasper and Eldorado Streets stopped in traffic. The officer was stopped in traffic when they saw a driver of a vehicle near them holding a gun. The driver was later identified as Patrick Hutton, 26, of Decatur.

A $3 million forgivable federal loan helped one local agribusiness offset rising costs, while a $100,000 loan allowed another business to simply survive. In total, more than 4,000 businesses received about $337.8 million in federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans throughout Champaign and Urbana. The loans were meant to help businesses keep their workers paid and employed during the first full year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses could also apply to have their loans forgiven.
