Jefferson Woman Sentenced to Probation Following Drug Network Investigation

A Jefferson woman was recently sentenced to probation for her role in a drug network investigation. According to court documents, 39-year-old Tanisha Dillinger pled guilty to an amended charge Class C Felony for intent to deliver methamphetamine under five grams. The original charge was a felony for conspiring to manufacture or possess methamphetamine with intent to deliver. As per a plea agreement, she had a ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years.

Crown is down, new sod is in at Linduska Field

For years when players from opposing football teams would stand on the sidelines and look across Linduska Field in Jefferson, they might think the opposing players had no feet or ankles. Needless to say, the crown on the field was rather pronounced. Earlier this summer, the crown and sod were taken off Linduska field and replaced with a much lower crown, a completely new drainage system, and new sod. With the first varsity football game scheduled for two months from today, it’s going to take more than a little water and perhaps some TLC, but school officials expect the field to be ready to go on Aug. 26 when Greene County faces ACGC.

A total of $1,900 was raised at this year’s Greene County Farm Bureau’s Cram the Cab event held June 13 – 18 at the Jefferson Fareway store. This dollar total represents a combination from Fareway customers who purchased pre-packed bags of non-perishable food items, customers who rounded up their grocery bill at the cash registers, and cash donations from Greene County Farm Bureau Financial Services agents Kim Tjepkes and Damon Clancy, and the county Farm Bureau.

O’Brien County, Iowa — A Spencer man has been arrested at a Fort Dodge prison and returned to O’Brien County in connection with a December 2020 theft case. Court records indicate that on December 21, 2020 a white Ford pickup was stolen from a Hartley residence. Less than an hour later, an O’Brien County Deputy responded to a report of a white pickup in a ditch near Sanborn, with that vehicle having left the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Marshalltown Man Sentenced to Prison for Stealing ATM Machine from Wild Rose in Jefferson

A Marshalltown man was recently sentenced to prison for his involvement in stealing an ATM machine from Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson. According to court documents, 52-year-old Richard Harris pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first degree theft. As per the plea agreement, Harris was sentenced to ten years in prison and given credit for time already served.

Phase 11 Streetscape, Rec Center Bids, And Train Horn Mitigation Back On The Agenda For Monday’s Carroll City Council Meeting

The Carroll City Council will review bids for the proposed Carroll Rec Center improvement project, consider moving forward with the final phase of the Downtown Streetscape Project, and more at tomorrow’s (Monday) meeting. One of the first items of business is formal council approval of the hire of Dan Hannasch as Carroll’s next fire chief. His first official day with the city is July 11, and he will be replacing Greg Schreck, who is retiring next month after a 40-year career with the Carroll Fire Department. City Manager Mike Pogge-Weaver says the council will continue a discussion from their previous meeting concerning the end of the Downtown Streetscape project.
