The suspect is being held on $250,000 bond. Jeffrey Richardson was 35, and had been with the Poteet Police Department since April 2021.

AUSTIN, Texas – An off-duty Poteet police officer was killed Wednesday morning after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver in Austin, according to Austin PD. Police responded to a call just after 2 a.m. in the 11700 block of N Mopac Expressway after someone reported that a vehicle struck a pedestrian. The area is currently a construction zone and the accident occurred on the service road.

Austin Police said an off-duty officer with another agency was hit by a car while working traffic duty at a construction zone near the Domain early Wednesday morning.

The Cosmetology students at Poteet ISD traveled to Pure Glam on May 27, to work on making their own lip glosses and hone their make-up application and blending skills.

The best bakers and dessert makers showcased their baking skills at the “Taste of Texas” Food Show, as part of the 75th annual Poteet Strawberry Festival. The food show committee was excited to have lifted last year’s COVID restrictions and return to their previous format.
