Choctaw County sees baseball season come to end

ACKERMAN – He gave his coach just that, but the Chargers just had to tip their caps because the Panthers just kept hitting the baseball. A nine-hit, 11-run third inning doomed Choctaw County as it couldn’t get back in the game offensively and it ended the season for the home team. It was a 17-6 final for the Panthers to advance to the North State championship series in Class 2A.

Chargers get bats going to pull off baseball victory

The Chargers came out swinging, which led to a 14-4 victory in five innings over Pine Grove in the first game of round three Class 2A playoffs. Pine Grove started off the game with a two-run lead in the top of the first inning, then Choctaw County answered in the bottom of the first with eight runs of its own to close the first inning in front 8-2.

Chargers set for third round baseball matchup with Panthers

Since the high school was consolidated over a decade ago, the Chargers haven’t advanced to the third round of the playoffs. There have been a couple of division championships in the cards the last two years, but last season’s team fell short in the first round. Choctaw County made the move down to Class 2A where the program won a state championship back in 2009 as Ackerman High School and the team is back in the third round this week.
