New Bern man turns $3 Powerball ticket into a big payday

A New Bern man tried his luck on a Powerball ticket and is walking away with a massive payout. Kennie Jones of New Bern purchased a $3 Power Play ticket, matching his numbers on four white balls and the Powerball in Saturday’s drawing to win $50,000. His prize tripled to $150,000 when the 3X multiplier hit, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Accident leaves drivers injured

A late afternoon car crash in Pantego left drivers of these two vehicles injured Thursday, June 23. According to Pungo River Fire member Lynn Paul, the intersection of the Hwy 99 South and Railroad Bed Road is the site of a number of automobile accidents as the angle of the intersection makes it difficult for drivers to properly see one another and signs reading “Limited Sight Distance” dot the roadsides to caution drivers. Arrest made in shooting northwest of Greenville

A man has been arrested for a shooting outside Greenville that injured a man and endangered others in a nearby residence, to include a 3-year-old.
