Murder suspect and driver charged in I-59 chase, crash that critically injured Homewood police officer

Formal charges have been filed against the man and woman who led a Homewood police officer on a chase that ended with the officer being seriously injured. Tryriq McCall, 20, who was wanted on a failure to appear warrant on a murder charge, is now charged with second-degree stolen property ant attempting to elude. He will be held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.

Sylacauga man dies after motorcycle hits deer in early morning crash

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said one person died in a crash involving a deer early Wednesday morning in Dekalb County. Joey S. Wooten, 51, of Sylacauga, was seriously injured when the 1995 Suzuki Savage motorcycle he was driving struck a deer, according to ALEA. The accident happened at approximately 5:40 a.m. Wednesday on Dekalb County Road 81, about three miles south of Fort Payne.

Sylacauga man dies in single-vehicle crash

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WAFF) - A single-vehicle crash that happened on Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a Sylacauga man. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Joey S. Wooten, 51, was injured when the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer. Wooten was taken to DeKalb Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries.
