Lincoln wreck leaves fishing legend, mom, 2 children dead

Last Thursday, it wasn’t just four people who were killed in an automobile accident in Lincoln. It was a mother, her two sons and a fishing legend. Chelsea Ann Turley, 31, was driving with her two sons, Sebastian and Dysin, when her car collided with a vehiclew belonging to Luther Jerome “Jerry” Wallace’s, 81. All four were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Eastaboga man found locked inside store after hours fails to avoid arrest for theft after presenting 'handwritten receipt'

An Eastaboga man was arrested on misdemeanor theft charges after finding himself locked inside the Dollar General store on East Street, according to Talladega Police. Terrell Lawler Jr., 29, was found inside the store just after 10 p.m. Monday night, about six hours after being released from the Talladega County Metro Jail on unrelated charges. According to Lt. Jimmy Thompson, he was carrying an apparently stolen duffle bag valued at $18 containing three cans of tuna valued at $3, a sketchbook valued at $2, a 5-pack of Bic lighters valued at $4.95, two bars of Dial soap valued at $1, a Bic pen valued at $2 and two Sprites valued at $1.95.

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Catalytic Converter theft is on the rise in Sylacauga. SPD is reporting that at least 64 catalytic converts have been stolen in the city since April 1. “Usually you hear about cars being broken into, however this is not that kind of crime,” said SPD Lt. Willis Whatley. “This is a crime of opportunity. This is a very frustrating type of crime because we can’t put these things in the system without a serial number.”

Heavy rain likely on Friday as gulf storm moves north

Northeast Alabama dads may get a deluge for Father’s Day, according to the National Weather Service weekend forecast. Tara Goggins, a meteorologist at the weather service station in Calera, said Thursday that the Anniston area could see as many as 4 inches of rain over the weekend, beginning as early as Friday. Though the rain will be spread out over the weekend, Goggins said, low-lying areas and roads prone to flooding could still present a safety risk.
