Chicot County wreck takes life of woman

An Oak Grove, AR woman died about 2:55 p.m. Thursday in a wreck on Arkansas 159 in rural Chicot County south of Eudora. According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, Lakisha S. Phillips, 33, was driving a 2008 model Chevrolet Impala north on the highway, south of the Old Kilbourne Road. While attempting to negotiate a right-hand curve, the vehicle traveling into the southbound lane and then back into the northbound lane while rotating in a clockwise direction. The car exited the roadway and overturned, coming to final rest facing in a southerly direction on its roof.

5 killed, 5 hurt when van collides with truck in Arkansas

Five people were killed and five others injured after a large truck collided with a van belonging to a school serving disabled adults in southeast Arkansas, authorities said. The crash happened Monday afternoon on U.S. 65 when the 15-passenger van failed to yield when crossing U.S. 65 in rural Chicot County and collided with a truck hauling cooking oil, Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Tuesday.

Family remembers victim in Monday bus crash

DERMOTT, Ark. (KARK/KAIT) – Two days after five people were killed in a Chicot County bus crash, the victims’ families are still coming to terms with their loss. At the site of the accident just west of Dermott, a memorial has been set up, featuring crosses with flowers in a variety of colors, along with a marker. That marker bears the name of the victims killed when their C.B. King school bus crashed into an 18-wheeler crossing U.S. Highway 65.
