Chicago Group Falls Short of Their Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony World Record

A local group near Chicago tried to do something that hasn't been achieved since May of 2007, and that's hold the largest dog wedding ceremony and set the Guinness World Record. The record for the largest dog 'wedding' ceremony was achieved by 178 dog pairs who sealed their marriage with a bark on the notes of the wedding march at the “Bow Wow Vows event” organized by the Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center in Littleton, United States, on 19 May 2007. The ceremony was unofficial and has no legal value but the participants were given a complimentary wedding 'certificate' for their pups.

Now, five years later,...

Evanston city staff will drop the questions of whether and where to build a new dog park back in the lap of the City Council Monday night. Be a Part of Doggie History!

Hi, it’s Leslie Harris, and today is a momentous day in the western suburbs. Villa Park is attempting to set the world record for the highest number of doggy weddings at the same time. Right now, the record for dog weddings performed at the same time it stands at 178, which happened in Littleton, Colorado in 2007. There was an attempt to break the record in 2008 in Oak Park, but they only had 87 couples that day. I guess someone in Illinois really wants to break that record!

Time is running out on Illinois businesses, breeders operating as puppy mills

Purveyors of puppy mill pets have come unhinged. They are in full “freak-out” mode, furious about Illinois’ new policy focus favoring rescue pets. Many in our region may have seen their ridiculous propaganda filling their mailboxes as they launched a Chicago-machine-style smear campaign against me for the simple act of putting puppy mills out of business.

PAWS Dog Of The Week: Rosemary

CHICAGO (CBS) — Rosemary is the PAWS Dog of the Week. She is a two-year-old Labrador retriever mix who is a big sweetheart. Rosemary loves to cuddle and gives you the happiest face when you pet her ears. Rosemary can be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly! She is content to snooze all day in the sun, or go on walks in the neighborhood. She knows several tricks but would do well with more training. Rosemary would do best in an adults-only home without cats. Click here to go to the PAWS Chicago website and schedule an in-person adoption and bring Rosemary home. Join PAWS Chicago Saturday for the Angels with Tails Winnetka adoption event. From 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. PAWS Chicago and other shelters will bring cats and dogs who are ready to find their families to nine storefronts and sidewalks along Elm and Chestnut streets in downtown Winnetka.
