At about 10:46 a.m., the boy was inside of a residence when he was approached by a male offender who presented a handgun and demanded the victim's belongings, Chicago police said.

A shootout ended with one man hospitalized and police mopping up a block-long crime scene on the Near North Side early Saturday, according to police and witnesses. The shooting began around 2:28 a.m. on the 500 block of West Oak in the Cabrini-Green neighborhood, police said. A 27-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds at the scene reportedly showed up at Northwestern Memorial Hospital a short time later in a bullet-riddled car.
