NYPD removes 2,000 bees from New York City restaurant

A restaurant in New York City was abuzz over the weekend – and not just because of its human guests. The New York Police Department’s bee unit (NYPD beekeepers) were called to a restaurant in Times Square on Sunday, where roughly 2,000 bees had settled near the seating area, according to a tweet from NYPD News. “NYPD Bees was called in to safely remove 2,000 bees from a restaurant seating area near the crossroads of the world,” NYPD News wrote on Twitter. “The [bees] will now be relocated to an area where their pollenating [sic] skills will be put to good use,” NYPD News added.  It is unclear where exactly the bees have been relocated. The NYPD beekeepers have been busy in recent weeks. They were called to a building near the World Trade Center earlier this month, where 8,000 bees had swarmed. Those bees were also safely removed and relocated to an undisclosed apple orchard, Fox News Digital previously reported. In May, NYPD beekeepers also relocated about 15,000 bees from a tree in Queens.

Yankees’ Anthony Rizzo ‘should be’ good after getting hit on elbow

Anthony Rizzo doesn’t expect to miss time after being removed from Monday’s game following a hit by pitch. Rizzo, who was hit in the elbow during the seventh inning of the 9-5 win over the Athletics in The Bronx, initially stayed in the game but was removed in the eighth, as Matt Carpenter pinch hit. “The whole arm just went dead there for a second,” Rizzo said. “I think when we just took the four-run lead there, just being smart. Going up to hit, I would’ve been fine to hit, but just being smart and getting on it right away definitely helped.” The...

It seems that Selling Sunset breakout star and fan-favorite Christine Quinn was the guest of honor. The fashion diva flew to New York just for the show and had prime seating (right next to Jacobs' husband Char DeFrancesco) while wearing one of his monogram looks for the big night. (She went with her stylist Kat Gosik.)

Wife of alleged ‘duck sauce’ killer arrested on weapons charges

The wife of the crazed customer charged with killing a Queens Chinese food delivery man over a duck sauce feud was busted earlier this month for weapons possession, the NYPD and sources said. Dorothy Hirsch, 62, was arrested following a morning raid at her Briarwood home on 84th Road on June 3 — two days after her husband Glenn Hirsch was charged in the April 30 shooting death of Zhiwen Yan, according to the NYPD. Authorities conducting a search warrant seized 8 handguns and ammunition from Dorothy Hirsch’s house, the NYPD said. Based off police records, the couple lived in separate...

Farmers Market-Inspired Fashion Is This Summer’s Most Optimistic Trend

The first time I rolled out of bed on a sunny Saturday morning and strolled my way down to my local Brooklyn farmers market, I was in for a rude surprise. My Patagonia shorts and under-laundered college sweatshirt — my go-to uniform for grabbing groceries — looked dishevelled compared to the perfectly concocted looks surrounding me. As shoppers and their well-behaved dogs walked alongside rows of tables stacked with boxes of blueberries, crates of tomatoes, and bunches of dahlias, I peered at their elegant cottagecore dresses paired with Adidas Samba sneakers and Bode patchwork tops styled with worn-in jeans with just the right amount of holes in them.

When this teeny-tiny apartment appeared on my Instagram feed, the first thing that caught my attention was its airiness and abundant light. The second thing was the kitchen. Beyond the thoughtful layout and fittings, just barely viewable in the background, was the average rental kitchenette, the kind that comes with so many New York apartments, familiar to anyone who’s ever lived in one.

At the 2022 Westminster Dog Show, Everyone Was a Winner

The Westminster Dog Show is a reliably great source of entertainment, launching pets like Wasabi the Pekingese into the upper echelons of animal stardom. This year, the winner of the coveted Best in Show prize was a stately bloodhound named Trumpet, but it must be said that he had some stiff canine competition. (I don’t know how one goes about judging bloodhounds vs. Pekingese vs. border collies vs. every other dog breed, but I’m pretty sure trying to do so would be the death of me.)
