Topeka Woman Arrested on Warrant, Drug Charges

The Caney Police Department (CPD) arrests a Topeka woman on a warrant and drug charges. According to the CPD, the suspect, 28-year-old Aalijah Lawton, was seen pulling into Casey's General Store on Wednesday after police were notified that she had allegedly been driving recklessly and running vehicles off of Highway 75. When running a warrants check, officers observed that Lawton had an active warrant for aggravated vehicular battery and leaving the scene of an accident in Shawnee County, Kansas.

Wilsons celebrate fiftieth anniversary

A 50 th wedding anniversary celebration for Bill and Margie Wilson of Weir was held June 12 with friends and family at St. Bridget’s Parish Hall in Scammon. Bill Wilson and Margie O’Brien were united in marriage June 10, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parsons. A family trip to Pensacola, Florida is planned to commemorate the occasion. Parsons Man Arrested on Warrant and Drug Charges

A routine traffic stop leads to a drug arrest and an arrest on an outstanding warrant in Parsons. Earlier this week, a Parsons Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North 10th street. There were three adults in the vehicle and the officer recognized one of them as 31-year-old Brandon Markise Kindrick, despite his efforts to conceal his identity. A deputy arrived to assist utilizing his K-9, Memphis and indicated that there were illegal drugs in the car.

KDHE ends boil water advisory for City of Thayer

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A boil water advisory for the public water system in Thayer, Kansas has ended. The advisory for the small southeast Kansas town was originally issued June 20 by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment due to a loss of pressure caused by a waterline break. Lower water pressure could potentially lead to bacterial contamination.

Michael Osborne, 67, Oswego

Michael Dean Osborne, (Mike), 67, of Oswego died June 20, 2022 due to complications from Glioblastoma. He was diagnosed in February and fought vigorously for more time with his family.
