O’Brien County, Iowa — A Spencer man has been arrested at a Fort Dodge prison and returned to O’Brien County in connection with a December 2020 theft case. Court records indicate that on December 21, 2020 a white Ford pickup was stolen from a Hartley residence. Less than an hour later, an O’Brien County Deputy responded to a report of a white pickup in a ditch near Sanborn, with that vehicle having left the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Storm Lake Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Weapon Conviction

Sioux City, IA (KICD)– A Storm Lake man will spend nearly a decade in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally possessing firearms back in January. 46-year-old Leonard Wiemer was previously convicted in a felony terrorism case which then made him ineligible to posess a firearm. He was most recently arrested by the Storm Lake Police Department last April after a weapon was reportedly found in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Bike Rentals Now Available at King's Pointe

A new recreational rental program is underway at the King's Pointe resort in Storm Lake. Ten adult bikes are available for rent. The bikes include features such as easy shifting, baskets, and water bottle holders. To rent a bike, users simply need to download an app, scan the code on the bike's rear plate with a cell phone, and the bike will automatically unlock. Users are only charged for the time they use bikes until they are returned to the rack in front of the resort. The app includes a map to help guests find their way around the trails system and locate attractions in the community.

A Storm Lake man has been sentenced in Sioux City Federal Court to serve eight years in prison for possessing a stolen firearm and ammunition. 46-year-old Leonard Weimer pleaded guilty early this year to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Weimer was previously convicted of multiple felony offenses, including Terrorism, where Weimer shot deputies in two police vehicles. Weimer's prior felony convictions prohibited him from possessing firearms or ammunition.
