Update | Mission Creek fire contained

CASHMERE — The first day of summer was marked by a small wildfire in the Mission Creek area near Cashmere. The fire began roughly 3.5 miles south of Cashmere at about 3 p.m. Sunday and burned roughly 25 acres, said Chief Phil Mosher, Chelan County Fire District 6. The cause is under investigation.

Additional Suspect in East Wenatchee Shooting Arrested Monday

A third suspect in the June 5th shooting of a 24-year-old man on 9th Street in East Wenatchee was arrested Monday. Car, brush fire on Highway 97

Courtesy Chelan FIre & Rescue At 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 Chelan Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a car fire on Highway 97 just south of milepost 240. Battalion 71 arrived and found a car fully involved with fire spreading to the brush. Crews quickly stopped the spread of the brush fire and then focused on extinguishing the car fire. While crews were focused on their firefighting efforts, the intoxicated driver of the car was found by the arriving Chelan County Sheriffs Officer in the drivers seat of Battalion 71’s command vehicle preparing to flee the scene. The officer was able to apprehend the Intoxicated man before he was able to leave. Chelan Fire and Rescue appreciates the excellent support on all emergency scenes provided by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Department.

Motorcyclist hospitalized after colliding with trailer on South Lakeshore Road

A seriously injured motorcyclist had to be airlifted after an accident Saturday afternoon on South Lakeshore Road along Lake Chelan. Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputy Lee Risdon said the motorcycle was westbound about 12:45 p.m. near the Cove Marina when witnesses reported he crossed the center line and collided with a trailer being towed by a pickup.
