Crystal E. Doty

COAL CITY—Crystal E. Doty, 61, of Coal City, formerly of Joliet, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. Born June 13, 1961 in Joliet, Crystal Elaine was a daughter of Floyd Doty and Frances Foster. She was raised and educated in Joliet, graduated from Joliet West High School, and attended Joliet Junior College. Crystal enjoyed spending time outdoors going riding around looking for deer, watching her hummingbird feeders, and catching a good thunderstorm. She was a devoted mother and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Crystal always looked forward to the holidays and cooking enough food to serve an army. Easter was her favorite holiday and she made sure to prepare at least a thousand eggs for the family Easter egg hunt. Crystal was a helpful, reliable woman who always put others before herself, and was just a good person who will be missed deeply by those who loved and knew her.

William Karczewski

He was born November 16, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Erwin and Julia (Thompson) Karczewski. William married Dorothy (Novak) Karczewski on September 10, 1960 in Hazelcrest, Illinois. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage before her passing on February 8, 2022. William is survived by his children, William Karczewski and wife, Joan of Grant Park, Illinois, Dan Karczewski and wife, Joy of LaBelle, Missouri, Therese First of Bonnie, Illinois, and Loretta “Lori” Janca and husband, Tom of Bourbonnais, Illinois; grandchildren, Mindy, Willy, Kristy, Abby, Michele, Brian, Aaron, Evan, Erik, Zachary, Branden, and Jared; great-grandchildren, Vera, Ford, Josephine, Sophia, and Sienna; sister, Ruth DeThomas of Steger, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Allen Karczewski; son-in-law, Robert First; and siblings, Joyce Eckert and Charles Karczewski. William worked as a machinist for many years for Mobile Chemical. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and home, and could often be found watching westerns. William also enjoyed antique threshing equipment and tractors. He loved his dog, Dusty and cat, Sadie. William was a loving family man and will be deeply missed.

LARGO, FL—Deborah Lynn Horton Jackson, 62, of Largo, FL and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, FL. Born Jan. 3, 1960 in Joliet, Deborah Lynn was a daughter of Robert and Beverly A. (Jackson) Horton. Debi graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1978, and went on to attend Joliet Beauty School. She enjoyed all animals large and small, but had a special place in her heart for cats. Debi also enjoyed spending time with family.
