Unrestrained Louisiana Passenger Killed in Early Morning Crash on LA 1, Impairment Suspected. Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported that on June 27, 2022, shortly before 2:00 a.m., LSP Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle serious injury crash on Louisiana Highway 1 about 6 miles north of Louisiana Highway 3090. Timothy Stevens, 31, of Larose, Louisiana, died as a result of the crash. According to preliminary findings, Zackery Santiny of Larose was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 north on LA Hwy 1. A 2012 Freightliner 18-wheeler was traveling south on LA Hwy 1 at the same time. Santiny crossed the center line into the southbound lane for unknown reasons. The Freightliner driver attempted to avoid a collision by steering to the right, but was hit by the Pontiac.

Christopher (Chris) Joseph Breaux, Sr., 67, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. He was a native of Golden Meadow, LA and a resident of Galliano, LA. A service will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow, LA on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a mass to follow. The LA 1 Coalition, along with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, last week proudly announced the Phase II groundbreaking of the LA 1 Improvement Project – which will provide an elevated highway connecting the Leeville Bridge to Golden Meadow and critical energy infrastructure to the nation. Houma Fire Department & Bayou Cane Fire Protection Dist. Celebrates Recruitment Class

The Houma Fire Department (HFD) and Bayou Cane Fire Protection District (BCFPD) recently held a graduation ceremony of a firefighter recruit class. The class included six individuals where five work for HFD and one for BCPD. The ceremony celebrated the class’ completion of a twelve week labor-intensive class that was hosted by the departments’ training divisions and it was the first time the departments participated in a joint academy program.
