Police Investigate Fatal Stabbing In Springfield

Springfield police are investigating a fatal stabbing. A 26-year-old man was brought to HSHS St. John’s Hospital around 10:30 Thursday night with multiple wounds to his upper torso. He died there a short time later. Police believe the stabbing took place in the 15-hundred block of East Cook Street.

Monroe To Be Closed At 10th Street Tracks, Effective Monday

Effective Monday, Monroe Street in downtown Springfield will be permanently closed at the 10th Street tracks. Vehicles will still have access to any businesses on Monroe between 9th and 11th, but will no longer be able to cross the tracks. The closure is part of the railroad relocation project and the development of the new multi-modal transportation hub.

Organizers of a Springfield rally to protest the Supreme Court decision ending a constitutional right to an abortion say it’s time to get mobilized and take action. An estimated 200 people took part in Friday night’s rally outside the federal building in downtown Springfield. Among the groups organizing the event was Resistor Sisterhood, which says the High Court’s decision could lead to other rights being rolled back… including same-sex marriage.

Wolves beat Springfield Thunderbirds in Game 5 to win Calder Cup

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Wolves have taken the Calder Cup after taking out the Springfield Thunderbirds 4-0 in Game 5 of the finals. The Wolves swept four games in six days, and Saturday's win earned them their fifth league championship, the team said on its website. The Wolves only lost in Game 1 in overtime. Alex Lyon stopped all 28 shots that came at him, pushing his postseason record to 9-3.They are now the first American Hockey League team in 22 years to achieve two shutouts in the finals.The team wil fly back to Chicago Sunday morning. Fire crews battle structure fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- The Springfield Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 704 S Dirksen Parkway, Friday afternoon. Governor Duncan Mansion BBQ Set for This Evening

The Governor Duncan Mansion will play host to a historical barbeque on their lawn this evening.
