‘An incredible breed’ -- adopting greyhounds

Sydney, a nearly four-year-old greyhound recently adopted by Sal and Debi Spinosa of Waitsfield, has found her home. She loves squeaky toys, belly rubs and car rides. Sydney came from a racing track in Ireland via Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption in Swanzey, New Hampshire. She is the sixth greyhound the Spinosas have adopted over the last 20 years.

Meals on Wheels drivers receive gifts

LUDLOW, Vt. – On May 12, John Murphy, President of the Ludlow Side Hill Cronchers Snowmobile Club, generously presented gas gift cards to Eileen Dunseith, Chairperson of the Black River Valley Senior Center, for Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers. Hot meals are served and delivered four days a week from the Black River Valley Senior Center located at 10 High Street in Ludlow to folks in need in the towns of Ludlow, Cavendish, and Plymouth. This program would not be possible without the volunteer drivers. Call the Center at 802-228-7421 if interested in volunteering.

VSP investigating suspicious incident at Peru home

PERU, Vt. (WCAX) - Police are investigating a suspicious incident in Peru, where police say a person found a bullet lodged inside of the wall of their home. Police were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19. Troopers began investigating, and determined the bullet was a rifle round and had struck the home near an entrance.

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Thomas Lamar Riley, age 84, passed away Jan. 20, 2022 at Advent Health Hospital in DeLand, Fla. Thomas was born Sept. 23,1937 in Richmond Dale, Ohio. He graduated from Southeastern High School in 1955. He went to the University of Ohio on a basketball scholarship. He was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956. He was an electrician working on jet engines until he retired as a Corporal.

LRC meets with Cavendish craftsman

LUDLOW, Vt. – Peter LaBelle of Cavendish recently spoke about stained glass art to the Ludlow Rotary Club at its weekly luncheon meeting. LaBelle described the process of creating a design for a stained glass project and the actual process of cutting the glass and piecing it together. He also discussed the ecclesiastical form of stained glass art as exemplified in church windows.
