BARTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont State Police say Eric Fillmore, 36, of Derby was killed when his 2003 Harley Davidson was struck by an oncoming truck. Just before Noon Sunday, police were called to VT RT 58 in the Town of Barton. Police say when they arrived both vehicles were fully engulfed in fire.

Police say a pickup truck crossed the center line Sunday morning and struck Eric Fillmore's motorcycle. He died at the scene.

State Police are investigating a car accident in which a Derby man died in Barton on Sunday, according to a police report. Eric Fillmore, 36, who was driving a motorcycle, died after colliding with a truck on Route 58. Troopers responded to the two-vehicle accident at about 11:48 a.m. and found both vehicles engulfed in flames, the report stated.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On June 30, 2022, at approximately 1 pm the Barton Fire Department received a report of a structure fire located at 33 Vigario Lane in Barton, VT. The Barton Fire Department responded to the location and observed a fire on the outside of an attached garage. Fire suppression efforts were conducted. At the time of the fire the residence was occupied by 8 children and an adult, and no injuries were reported.
