KKK group leaves fliers in Ashburn, Leesburg; second such incident in 2021

For the second time in six months, Ku Klux Klan propaganda printouts were found in driveways in Loudoun County on Thursday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Printouts advertising Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were placed in the driveways of several homes along Cross Timber Drive, Citation Drive and Deer Chase Place in Ashburn, as well as Wallace Drive, Alpine Drive and Gleedsville Road in Leesburg.

One in custody following shooting in Martinsburg, police investigate others involvement

MARTINSBURG - One man is in custody following a shooting in the area of West King Street and Porter Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. Wesley Adam Davis Cribb, 35, was placed into custody and transported to the Martinsburg Police Department, where he was charged with wanton endangerment and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, stemming from a prior felony assault and battery conviction in South Carolina in 2012, according to a press release from the MPD.

Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged two women with arson after connecting them to a mobile home fire last week. Cheryl D. Saunders, 39, and Katherine A. Edwards, 66, were charged with arson after investigators determined both were involved with intentionally setting a mobile home on fire at 16900 Warbler Court in Hagerstown last Tuesday evening. The suspects were identified after multiple witnesses saw the pair at the home and then observed smoke and flames a short time later. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and is owned by Saunders's mother.

State, county prepare for changing marijuana laws on July 1

Virginia will start to loosen restrictions on recreational marijuana on July 1, but the timeline and details of that loosening are anything but cut-and-dry. The Virginia General Assembly in April voted to legalize possession of up to an ounce (28.3 grams) of marijuana by adults 21 and over, with no intent to distribute. The smoking marijuana in public will remain illegal.
