A cold front arrives midmorning, bringing thunderstorms into Chariton, Saline, and Macon counties from the northwest. Initially heavy downpours will be the main threat before storms possibly strengthen as they head south. According to a release from Superintendent Cara Engelbrecht, Brunswick R-2 went on a “soft lock down” during the afternoon as recommended by Chariton County Sheriff Erick Billups. Sheriff seeks fugitive who fled during arrest in Chariton County

CHARITON COUNTY, MO – Chariton County authorities are looking for a man who fled an attempted arrest near Brunswick Monday. The car, observed near Mendon, fled from the scene, eventually stopping on Steamboat Avenue, near Route Y, north of Brunswick. The driver was arrested. A second occupant fled on foot. Deputies searched for the suspect, David Grossman, for several hours afterward, but could not locate him.
